Setting up in 1953, the Hibiscus Sichuan Opera Troupe has a well-balanced cast well versed in basic skills capable of playing roles of all dramas.

To date the company has presented over 200 dramas including both civil plays and military plays. The newly written Sichuan opera Goddess of Hibiscus which has been staged abroad is well known countrywide.

From September to November 2001, the company went to Japan at the invitation of Japanese Silhouette Troupe. Japanese Prime Minister Kroizumi watched the play at Chinese embassy and made favorable comments.
