Headed by renowned performing artist Mei Baojiu and gathered with a large number of excellent artists and performers, the troupe features unique style, consummate skill and a well-balanced cast well versed in both martial arts and polite letters. In their repertoire are a number of classic items much favored by audience such as Imperial Concubine Intoxicated, Hegemon King Leaving his Concubine. Mu Guiying in Command, Legend of White Snake, Stealing Silver Ingots Kept in Stock and Causing Havoc in Heaven. The theatre, which has been to a dozen or so countries and regions, enjoys high reputation at home and abroad.

In recent years the theatre has produced some new Mei-style drama such as Fragrant Appeal of Plum Blossoms, Unofficial Life Story of the Imperial Concubine and the historical opera Lines in Praise of Luoshen the Goddess, which are highly praised by leaders and specialists and greatly favored by audience. Henceforth the theatre will set as an example the master Mei Lanfang and create more quality works for developing Peking opera and enhance national culture.
