Miyata Masayuki Knife-force Painting Show Held in Japan

(2002/06/18)

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan, Miyata Masayuki Knife-force Painting Show was held from June 16 to 18 at Japan's Fukuoka city.

Miyata Masayuki is a celebrated knife-force painter. He held a Miyata Masayuki Art Show in Shanghai in 1997 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of normalization of Sino-Japanese diplomatic relations. The show that time, as a return-to-native show of Miyata Masayuki knife-force painting, evoked wide repercussions in the painting circles of the two countries. He himself, owing to over-tiredness, passed away on the flight from Shanghai back to Tokyo.

In 1999, to mark the contribution Miyata Masayuki made towards Sino-Japanese cultural exchanges, Shanghai Library opened a Miyata Masayuki's Art Memorial Hall. Shanghai's departments concerned named his scissor-cutting art knife-force painting.

After the death of Miyata Masayuki, his widow Miyata Chyolei, carrying out the behest of her husband, has devoted to the career of Sino-Japanese cultural exchange and friendship. Each year she would launch various activities of Sino-Japanese cultural exchanges in different places in Japan.
