Japanese Imperial Kinsman Watch Modern Chinese Wash Painting Show

(2002/08/14)

On August 11, Japanese imperial kinsman Akishinomiya and wife went to Toyama's Water Painting Gallery to watch with great interest the Modern Chinese Wash Painting Show now opening. They set a high value on the show and had a cordial conversation with Chinese painters.

The Modern Chinese Water Painting Show was co-sponsored by Toyama Ken and Toyama Shi to mark the 30th anniversary of normalization of Sino-Japanese diplomatic relations. It is said by the sponsors that there is a continuous flow of visitors coming to the show since opening on August 9. All commend Chinese wash paintings for the exquisite time-honored tradition and the oriental aesthetic charms.

Qiutiaogong is the younger brother of Japanese crown prince. It is not commonly seen for Japanese imperial family members to visit Chinese wash painting show.

At the end of their visit Chinese painters presented to Akishinomiya and wife keepsakes and manuals specially prepared for the show.
