The Chinese dance Water Mirror written and directed by Fan Lu, regular lecturer with the Art Department of Tokyo University and a Chinese dancer residing in Japan was staged during December 19-20 at Tokyo's abc guild hall. Zhang Aiping, cultural attach¨¦ (with the rank of envoy) of Chinese Embassy in Japan and other cultural officials watched the performance given on the afternoon of the 20th.
The dance Water Mirror is created featuring unique artistic concept, based on the mood of Tang poet Li Bai's four poems Random Thoughts in Ancient Tune, A Quatrain, Drinking Alone Under the Moon and Farewell to a Friend and expressed using the skills of traditional Chinese dance and modern Japanese dance. Chinese and Japanese dancers Fan Lu, Liang Mingxing, Li Lina, etc. danced to the accompaniment of the enchanted melody of erhu (a two-stringed Chinese fiddle). Their gracefully posture and dexterous physical movements gave full play to the perfect combination of ancient rhymes, folk music and national dance. The audience was intoxicated by the charms of Chinese culture.
