Initiated in 1993, Guangxi International
Folk Song Festival was renamed as the Nanning International Folk Song
Art Festival in 1999. It is co-sponsored by the Social Culture and Libraries
Department of the Ministry of Culture, Chinese Nationality External
Culture Department and the People's Government of Nanning. It is a comprehensive
festival that integrates culture, tourism, business and economy. The festival is
held annually in Nanning City, the capital of south China's Guangxi Zhuang
Autonomous Region.
The purpose of Nanning International Folk
Song Art Festival is to carry forward the traditional cultural art of the Zhuang
people. During the festival, Chinese and foreign folk singers perform classical

addition, the festival also holds activities such as Model Shows, Dance and Song
Galas, China Golden Rooster, Tourism and Cate Festival, Guangxi Folk Song
Competition, Chinese Folk Song Invitational Tournament, Economic Trade Market,
etc. It has become an important activity and receives a wide range of praise
