The closing ceremony of the Sixth Shanghai International
Film Festival |
Approved by the State Council of the
People's Republic of China, the Shanghai International Film Festival is a
non-specialized competitive film festival accredited by the International
Federation of Film Producers Associations. The festival has its own special
organizing committee, which is in charge of the preparation and organizing work.
The Shanghai International Film Festival was initiated in 1993, with the purpose
of promoting mutual understanding and ties among countries and regions
worldwide, enhancing the film art and boosting the development of film
industry.
The festival comprises four major
activities, namely the appraisal of the Golden Goblet Award, the international
film exhibition, international trade fair of films and TV programs, and the
international film academic seminar. The festival originally established four
Golden Goblet Awards and one Jury Special Award, and added a Hennessy Cup Best
Innovation Film Award from the second festival on.
After the strict examination by the
International Federation of Film Producers Associations, the Shanghai
International Film Festival has already been listed as one the nine
international Grade A film festivals.
