Cultural Agreement Between the Government of the Republic of Tunis and the Government of the People's Republic of China
The Government of the Republic of Tunis and the Government of the People's
Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Contracting Parties), in
accordance with principles of mutual understanding, mutual respect for
sovereignty, equality and mutual benefit, and no interference in the other
party's interior affairs, and with a view to strengthening friendly relations
and promoting exchanges between the two countries in the sphere of culture, have
decided to conclude the present Agreement, the provisions of which are as
follows:
Article 1
The Contracting Parties agree to promote exchanges and cooperation between
the two countries in the fields of culture, art, education, sports, juveniles,
the press, broadcasting and television.
Article 2
The Contracting Parties, subject to the laws of their respective countries,
shall endeavor to increase the exchanges of professors, experts, artists,
writers, undergraduates, journalists and the like, and to provide each other
with every facility.
Article 3
The Contracting Parties shall endeavor to provide the nationals of the other
Contracting Party with scholarships for study and research in its country.
Article 4
The Contracting Parties, according to their abilities and subject to the laws
of their respective countries, shall endeavor to provide the nationals sent by
the other Contracting Party accordant to Article 2 with facilities for living
and work.
Article 5
The Contracting Parties, subject to the laws of their respective countries,
shall help the other Contracting Party with the exchange and publication of
books, films, discs and tapes concerning its literature, art, education and
technology.
Article 6
Each Contracting Party, on their respective territories, shall endeavor to
provide the other Contracting Party with every facility for its cultural and art
activities, such as exhibitions, academic lectures, concerts, opera and other
performances.
Article 7
The two Parties, according to their respective needs and abilities, shall
cooperate with each other, if one Party participates in an international
activity held on the other Party's territory.
Article 8
The Contracting Parties, according to their respective abilities, shall
encourage and facilitate the cooperation between the broadcasting stations and
TV stations of the two countries, as well as the exchanges of literary programs
and relative technologies.
Article 9
The Contracting Parties, according to their respective abilities, shall
encourage the cooperation in the field of film-making, such as exchanging films,
co-producing films, and holding Film Week, etc.
Article 10
The Contracting Parties shall encourage the exchange and cooperation between
each other's juvenile organizations.
Article 11
The Contracting Parties shall ensure to promote cooperation between sports
organizations of the two countries including the exchange of athletes and sports
teams for friendly visits and for exchange of techniques.
Article 12
The Contracting Parties shall, through diplomatic channels, negotiate and
settle the annual executive program of the present Agreement and relevant
expenses for cultural exchanges.
Article 13
The Agreement shall enter into force on the date of signature. The
Contracting Parties shall implement their respective legal procedures. The
Agreement shall be valid unless either Contracting Party requests its
termination by written notice to the other served at least six (6) months in
advance.
When this Agreement is terminated the beneficiaries' existing benefits shall
not be ended until the end of the corresponding year, and the students' stipends
and scholarships shall not be ended until the end of the corresponding academic
year.
Done in Beijing on June 22nd, 1979. In duplicate in
Chinese and French languages, both texts being equally authentic.
