Cultural Agreement Between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the People's Republic of China
The Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the People's
Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as "the Contracting Parties"),
desirous of strengthening friendly relations and promoting exchanges between
their two countries in the sphere of culture, public health and the press, have
decided to conclude the present Agreement, the provisions of which are as
follows:
Article 1
The Contracting Parties, in accordance with the principles of equality and
mutual benefit and respecting each other's sovereignty, agree to promote
exchanges and cooperation in the fields of culture, education, science, public
health, sports, publication, the press and broadcasting.
Article 2
The Contracting Parties agree to implement the following exchanges and
cooperation in the sphere of culture and art:
(a) Exchange of cultural and art exhibitions, reciprocal visits of artists
and exchange of performing tours by troupes of artists; (b) Reciprocal visits
of delegations and individuals, in accordance with their respective system, for
better understanding of cultural and art experiences of the other
Party's; (c) Reciprocal visits of experts of museums, libraries and
historical documents, and exchange of documents and documentaries; (d)
Providing facilities for researches on historical documents with equal
importance to the two countries; (e) Exchanging experiences and providing
help on archeology researches.
Article 3
The Contracting Parties agree to implement the following program of exchanges
and cooperation in the field of education:
(a) Promoting the exchange of visits and lecture tours by experts; (b)
Providing the quota of scholarships to each other's students according to needs
and possibilities; (c) Establishing direct contacts and cooperation between
educational institutions and schools of higher learning of the two
countries; (d) Encouraging the exchanges of teachers and scholars to teach
and lecture in the other Party's country.
Article 4
The Contracting Parties agree to promote cooperation between sports
organizations of the two countries including the exchange of sports delegations
and sports teams to each other's country for friendly visits and for exchange of
techniques.
Article 5
The Contracting Parties agree to exchange experiences and materials in the
fields of medicine and public health
Article 6
The Contracting Parties shall where possible, encourage cooperation in the
fields of the press and relevant technology.
Article 7
The Contracting Parties shall where possible, strengthen the exchanges of
various materials on social science.
Article 8
The Contracting Parties shall negotiate and settle periodically executive
programs of this Agreement.
Article 9
This Agreement shall enter into force on the date when the Contracting
Parties begin implementing the legal procedures of their respective countries
and inform each other of it.
Article 10
This Agreement shall remain valid for a period of five (5) years. Thereafter
it shall be automatically renewed for successive periods of five (5) years
unless either Contracting Party requests its termination by written notice to
the other served at least six (6) months prior to the date of expiration.
In duplicate in Chinese and Arabic languages, both texts
being equally authentic.
