The
emblem for the Sino-France Cultural Year was designed by a female French artist
who had studied calligraphy for a long time in China. The emblem indicates
the cultural communications between China and France during 2003- 05, which reached an unprecedented scale
and will leave an eternal mark in the history of humankind.
The
black, wild, cursive-hand Chinese character 中
(China) against a red background represents China. Red, the color of Chinese ink
paste, appears throughout the entire history of Chinese painting. The silver,
wild, cursive-hand Chinese character 法
(France) against the black background symbolizes simplicity and prudence. The
emblem is a manifestation of the communication between the two countries, two
nations and two cultures.
