Dancing with ice and snow

Jingyuetan hosting the 2007 China-Changchun Ice and Snow Tourism Festival and
the fifth Vasaloppet China, is expected to become the center of the Asian
cross-country skiing.
Vasaloppet China
Vasaloppet, the greatest cross-country ski race in the world, was named after
Gustav Vasa, a 16th century Swedish freedom fighter and nobleman who called on
people against the Danish rule. In 1922, a newspaper editor came up with an idea
of organizing an annual 90-kilometer skiing race in honor of Vasa, which became
a reality on March 19th of the year in Sweden, the first Vasaloppet. Up till
now, four cities across the world have ever held Vasaloppet cross-country ski
races -- Mora of Sweden, Minnesota of the United States, Hokkaido of Japan and
Changchun of China.
