* How to get there:

Take a bus to Burqin County from Urumiqi International Airport. It will take about 12 hours. Then take a bus to Lake Kanas.

* Best time to go:

Lake Kanas is open to the public from June to October every year. The best time to go is in late August. However, early October might be the best time for photographers to catch the mesmerizing fall scenes there.

* Other suggestions:

Warm coats are needed even in summer as it gets very cold at night.
