Huangshan : the abode of immortals
 The Lotus Flower Peak
The Lotus Flower Peak at 1,864 m. above sea 1evel, the broad Bright Summit
and the precipitous Heavenly Capital Peak are 1ocated in the center of the area
with the rest 77 distinct peaks above 1, 000 m. scattering around.
Pines
About 120 pieces of rocks on the mountain have interesting names. Mt.
Huangshan pines are very special. Instead of taking roots in soil, they cling to
the rock surface, showing the vigor of 1ife. There are over 30 pines which
have names, including Greeting Guest Pine, Lying Dragon Pine,
Exploring Sea Pine and Black Tiger Pine.
Pines on this mountain cling to the rock surface instead of
taking roots in soil. The ancient pines in fantastic shape rise highsintosthe
sky, or hang upside down. Among the numerous hundred-year-old ancient pines, the
most famous are Greeting Guest Pine before Jade -Screen Peak; Dragon Claws Pine, Lianli Pine and Black
Tiger Pine in the "North Sea"; Jieyin Pine, Juyin Pine on Shixin Peak; Tanhai
Pine on Heavenly Capita1 Peak: Dragon Pine on Lotus Flower Peak; Twin Dragon Pine in the "West Sea"; and
Phoenix Pine in the "Sky Sea". The ancient Greeting Guest Pine, rising
highsintosthe sky with its right hand side branches extending to greet guests,
has long been the symbol of Mt. Huangshan.
Hot Springs
Huangshan hot springs are crystal clear, good for drinking and taking bath.
The mountain is the watershed of the two rivers of the Yangtze and the Qiantan.
The springs and valleys provide torrent waters and high difference for
waterfa1ls. Famous waterfalls on the mountain include Renzhi, Wanzhang and
Jiulong. There are over 200 places of interest on the mountain, demonstrating
rich cu1tural and historical deposits. Mt. Huangshan offers you a spectrum of
natura1 miracles ranging from the spectacles of sunrise, sunset, cloud, mist,
the soughing of the wind in the pines, Buddha's halo, to rimed trees.
