Laigu Village: Beauty Beyond Belief
Two lakes at the end of glaciers
The boulders, stones and other debris carried down by
the glaciers end up near Laigu village, and block the flow of melt water from
the glaciers, forming two lakes. Surprisingly, they differ greatly from each
other: one boasts beautiful water as clear and as jade
, while the other is rather turbid and
muddy. The two lakes provide a delightful contrast as decoration for the
village. But why are the lakes so different? According to expert Shan Zhiqiang,
the clean lake's upper reaches are at a quiet glacier that brings few
impurities, while the situation is just contrary for the other lake.
