Laigu Village: Beauty Beyond Belief
Patches of fields are scattered in the village, making the village an idyllic
picture in itself. The village is especially beautiful in morning, with
snow-covered peaks glistening under the rising sun, cattle and sheep dotting the
grass, and smoke from burning incense creating a mysterious atmosphere.

Serenity
There are 46,298 glaciers in China, higher than the number of
mountains and rivers. Sightseeing of glaciers is still somewhat difficult for
the common traveler, but for those who have the chance, glaciers become a
magnificent attraction.
Bring your own sleeping bag, and stay the night at villagers' homes, or at
the only primary school in the Laigu village. Here you have a panoramic view of
the surrounding mountains and glaciers, with little accommodation expense. In
this quiet village, you can see the Meixi, Yalong, Ruojiao, Dongga, Xiongjia,
and Niuma glaciers all at once. Laigu Glacier is a general term for the six
glaciers. Nobody knows if the village is named after the glacier, or vice versa.
Among the six, Yalong glacier is the most magnificent, stretching more than 12
kilometers from the top of a mountain at an elevation of 6000 meters to Laigu
village at 4000 meters.
