Laigu Village: Beauty Beyond Belief

Ranwu Town, Basu County, is nestled in the Boshula Mountains in the southeastern region of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Nearby is Ranwu Lake, widely considered to be one of Tibet's most beautiful lakes. Twenty kilometers east of Ranwu is Laigu Village, surrounded by lakes and jokuls, and the meeting place of several oceanic glaciers. "Laigu," which means "earthly paradise far away from the world's turmoil" in Tibetan, is considered by many tourists and photographers to be China's most beautiful village.

Laigu is a quiet village with about 70 families and 500 residents, all Tibetans. The locals have a dark complexion because of the intense sunlight, given that the community is at an altitude of 4,000 meters. Villagers live a farming and herding lifestyle, preserving the original taste of a Tibetan village.
