Laochengxiang - Tianjin's Living Fossil
Foreigners weren't the only ones who constructed opulent houses in Tianjin.
Located close to Beijing,
the seat of government, Tianjin was an ideal location for the capital's rich and
powerful to build second homes. Most of the original owners have passed on, but
many of these buildings have become places of interest because of the status of
their original owners.

The Museum of the Old Town

The Museum of the Old Town was established and opened to the public in
December 2004. The exhibits, donated by locals and collectors, fall into four
categories: decorative architectural items like wood, stone or brick carvings;
relics of historically significant figures; pieces such as traditional
furniture, jewelry, utensils, and pottery, porcelain, bronze,
jade
and items; and photographs depicting old Tianjin.
