Northern Shaanxi and southern Shaanxi food can also be found in Xi'an. Northern Shaanxi food such as spiced donkey meat and yangrouhuimian (noodles cooked with mutton soup and vegetables) came to Xi'an, courtesy of performers of xintianyou (one of the major folk tunes popular in northern Shaanxi). The most famous food of southern Shaanxi is liangpi, which has many female admirers. In this dish, rice is ground with water, and then steamed. It is then served in slices mixed with garlic extract and chili oil.

　Guangzhou: No banquet without chicken

Guangzhou is a tolerant and equal city, where philistines and elites can live harmoniously together. The same goes for its food.

In Guangzhou, chicken plays an indispensable role in banquets. People in Guangzhou usually go to the countryside to eat chicken. Along the way up to the hills, you can find many chicken farms where fishponds are surrounded by cottages. This is because Guangdong people like chickens that are raised in a natural environment.
