The Visual Appeals of Sichuan: Its Scenery and People
Golden lake in Yellow Dragon
Channel
In northern Sichuan, there
lies a lake, whose name means "Golden Lake (Seercuo)" in Tibetan and "Yellow
Dragon Channel" in Chinese.
The channel is full of calcium carbonate travertine in the form of terrace
fields, resembling a flying golden dragon. In the sunshine, the whole channel
glitters in gold, like a yellow dragon descending from the snowy mountain.
Red lichen in Hongyuan
Red grass does not grow in Hongyuan, the last leg of grassland in the Red
Army's famous Long March. However, every autumn some kind of red lichen grows on
the riverbed. Embellished with clusters of red lichen, the vast grassland looks
extremely fascinating.
**Red maple in Mi Yaluo
Mi Yaluo is one of the biggest red maple scenic spots in China, covering
3,688 square kilometers, about 180 times bigger than that of Beijing
's Xiangshan.
When the first blast of autumn wind whispers, over 100 species of trees
undergo the baptism of frost successively, ushering in its golden prime time.
Flaming red maple, golden larch, cream silver birch, and bright red oak -- the
concept of color arrangement is collapsing instantly in view of this strong
visual hit.
