Bamei Village -- A Peach Blossom Valley
They opened up wastelands here and married local
Zhuang people. After several generations' hard work, they enjoyed a
self-sufficient and comfortable life. Even today, as long as they have salt
to eat, the Bamei people may reject all contact with the outside. They are
content with their lot and can solve everything.
Without cars, electricity, telephone, and television, Bamei people still live
a primitive, and self-sufficient living - fishing, hunting, and farming. They
plant corns, sugarcanes, and tropical fruits at the foot of mountains and grow
rice near the riverside.
But the traditional way of life is
changing as the village has drawn an increasing number of tourists. Local people
have to buy food and daily necessities from other places to meet the demand of
the increasing number of visitors.
Lured by the opportunities in modern cities, some young people have left the
village to open their own world.
Bamei's Beautiful Scene
In the Morning
In the early morning, fog fills the entire
village, covering the fields with thick and wet mist. Although people are not
yet up, all kinds of domesticated animal sounds linger on faintly.
Under the Sunshine
At sunrise,
the warm sunlight, like golden-colored silk, covers the earth. Red dragon flies
dance in the field, while the river flows vibrantly.
Along the river are dozens of waterwheels. Some are like a mother and child
relying on each other; some are like a husband and wife; and some are completely
like a whole family who work together. All of them make up unique scenery in
Bamei.
