The suspension cable across the Brahmaputra River
The suspension cable is currently the only way to enter the county. The steel
cable linking the two riverbanks is altogether about 200 meters long and near
100 meters above the river. Flags hang on the cable's two terminals, where
lizards and snakes are often found wriggling nearby. The cable is mostly used by
local villagers and has become stained in some parts.
The local people usually use a self-made bow-like wood
rack to cross over the river. The radian helps them to slide down almost to the
other side of the river, but for a small part of the trip near the end, they
have to use ropes to pull themselves forward to completely reach the other side
to finish their journey.
