Colorful Bazaars in Xinjiang

Tasty food is sold in the bazaar, including  kabobs (kebabs), rice eaten by hand and nang. Nang, a kind of crusty pancake, is a staple food of the Uyghur people. A dozen nang booths occupy half the street of the bazaar. Local people usually eat nang by mashing it and putting it into milk tea. Nang can be preserved for several months and is used by Uyghur people when traveling long distances.

Musical instruments

All the ethnic groups in Xinjiang are accomplished singers and dancers , so many varieties of unique musical instruments are sold in the bazaar.

Khotan Bazaar

Khotan is one of the remotest places in China, for centuries it was famed throughout the country for its jade, carpets and silk. Khotan jade is usually pale or opaque and has a very important position in Chinese traditional culture. It was considered as emperor jade in the Chinese history. The Khotan jade was the main material for making jade ware in ancient China from the later period of the New Stone Age to the Qing Dynasty.
