Huizhou Stone Carving

Huizhou Stone Carving has spread widely in both urban and rural areas in Huizhou and it has a variety of patterns. It is usually used to decorate doorposts, walls, archways and gravestones.

Because of the limitation of the materials, the subjects of the brick carving are less than woodcarving and stick carving. The main models of it are animals, plants, poems, calligraphies and so on.

The two main materials of stone carving are darkcyan Yixian blue-stone and brown Chayuan stone. The fine products of stone carving are common in door-covers of the residences, piercing windows in the walls and various kinds of archways.

Huizhou Bamboo Carving

Huizhou bamboo carving is an important part of Chinese bamboo art. Huizhou bamboo carving has Huizhou regional features, but on the whole the styles of bamboo carving products are more significant than regional styles.

Bamboo carving mainly has two sorts: one is surface carving which exists in two forms: intaglio and undercut. The other is tridimensional carving.
