Brick carvings require high quality bricks. The major steps of making high qulity bricks are as follow:

Select the clay, wait for the raw clay to mellow, sieve the clay pulp, make the brick mould, let the moulds dry, bake the moulds, and refine the color, etc.

2. Brick Carving Implements

Brick carving uses small implements made of steel. They mainly include Qiaoshou (hammers) and Zanzi (cold chisels).

3. Brick Carving Processes

The first step of brick carving is to prepare the bricks by cutting and polishing followed by numerous steps including painting, Geng (tilling), Ding Kulong (external carving), Biaoda (internal chiseling), and Dadian (final touch-up), etc.
