Recounting Oil Lamps

Branch-shaped lamp, made from iron in the late Warring States period. Common people used simply shaped iron lamps, while the rich preferred cooper ones with delicate designs.

Influenced by the highly developed bronze culture, oil lamps, like other wares, went through complicated evolutions from the Spring and Autumn period to the Han Dynasty (770BC-220). Oil lamps were no only just used for lighting, they also served as utensils in rites.
