Feng Zikai (1898 - 1975, China)

 

After graduating from college, Feng Zikai studied music and art in Japan before returning to China in 1922 to teach in East China's Shanghai Municipality. Later he worked as an editor at the Kaiming Press. It was at this time that his paintings and cartoons began to be published. Feng Zikai was considered the founder of modern cartoons in China after his Zi Kai Man Hua was published in 1924.

 

Hu Sheng Hua Ji was created between 1927 and 1973, during his fifty-year-long career as an artist. Long after his death in 1975, Feng's essays and cartoons are still popular with the Chinese public.
