Quan Jia Fu (Family Reunion) is a big gift created by the Beijing People's Art Theater for audiences during next year's Spring Festival . It performed twice, once in the festival and once in June 2005, receiving high praises each time.

Taking the ancient construction industry as its background, the drama displays Beijing residents' real life and their positive attitude to the transformations of the society.

The script describes a vicissitude in an ancient construction family during the 50 years after the founding of new China by showing the contributions of Wang Mantang, a head of an ancient construction team, and his family as well neighbors, to the national construction profession and many new tests in their everyday life.

 Highlight

Actors

Feng Yuanzheng, a well-known actor, in this play sheds his student image, and plays a foreman of a construction team. At the beginning of the play he falls into a predicament: His wife, who he thought was dead, take the couple's son to meet him.

Certainly, it is not a big problem for the straightforward and smart craftsman; he solves this and many other problems and the actor Feng's excellent performance received much applause.

Feng's wife Liang Danni is also in the play. She plays a warmhearted street director, Aunti Chun Xiu, a woman full of spirit. She often gives some double meaning speeches, which is another highlight in this drama.

Old Beijing Flavor

The Beijing People's Art Theater has continued its performing style with strong Beijing flavor by paying close attention to the common people's life. Quan Jia Fu is a kind of representative work of the last two years.

A vocal concert for middle aged-people

Classic old songs in various historical periods pass through the whole play. Audiences cannot help humming those familiar songs while watching the performance, which add some warmth and happiness between them and the stage.

 Director's words:

I am very excited about Quan Jia Fu finally being put on the stage. I love this play, and deeply believe it can attract many people. I want to heartily thank the screenwriter, and all the other people who care about this play.

Furthermore, I also want to thank all our actors. Without their support and cooperation, there would be no play. Their hard work and spirit have moved me. They have given me unforgettable and sincere help and understanding´Ren Ming

 Author and co-playwright's words:

Author 's words:

China's traditional constructions shock me. Its beauty is always in my heart. Those artisans have passed away, but you still can hear their breath and enthusiasm, whenever you visit those ancient buildings. So in this way, they live forever...--Ye Guanqin

Co-playwright's words:

The name in this play is not a traditional concept of a family's reunion. On the contrary, Wang Mantang's family life is not complete, and has several dismal feelings. Therefore, a final family reunion was not only a matter for one family. --Wang Zhian
