An artistic masterpiece: Spirit of China
Since the 1990s, the China National Acrobatics Troupe
has produced and rehearsed many comprehensive acrobatic performances, including
Chinese Charm, Beijing
Tianqiao Folk Acrobatics and Oriental
Magic Arts, to name a few.
The Spirit of
China , first presented in 1998, was staged 153
times at one of the leading domestic theaters, Poly Theater. That same
year, the programme traveled to New York, Dallas and Houston, Texas in the
United States. In 1999, the modified version was performed another 188 times
at Poly Theater, becoming one of the famous brands on Beijing’s culture and
tourism market.
The third edition of The Spirit
of China was presented in autumn 2001 during
the First Acrobatics Arts Festival in Beijing, sponsored by the China Federation
of Literary and Arts Circles and the China Acrobatics Artists Association.
The newest version was very well
received, winning the Golden Lotus Prize, Best Director Award, Best Actress
Award, Best Music Award, Best Program Award, the Creation of the Stage
Properties Award and Excellent Trainer Award. The piece endeavors to demonstrate
an indomitable spirit, heroic quality and wisdom via excellent acrobatics
programmes.
