Zunyi Municipal Acrobatic Troupe
The Zunyi Municipal Acrobatic Troupe, previously the Beijing Xingxing Circus,
was founded in November 1958.
For the past 40 years, six generations of troupe artists have developed and
created such excellent programs with Chinese characteristics as the
"Stunts of Three", "Balancing of Bowls on Head", "Pagodas and
Spinning", "Carpet Spinning", "Miao Ethnic Kid Juggling Straw Hats" and
"Single-handed Handstand", which have won more than 70 prizes in both domestic and
international acrobatic competitions.
The acrobatic troupe
has been invited to visit a dozen countries and regions, including
Italy, Canada, Japan, the United States, France, Germany, Brazil,
Mauritius, Angola and Hong Kong. Some of the troupe's representative works include
the "Stunts of Three", "Pots Tricks", "Rolling Cups", "Holding up a Girl with
Feet", "Pagodas and Spinning", "Ode to the Plum Blossom: Carpet Spinning",
"Kid Plays with Straw Hat", "Juggling on a Pole" and "Swing and Pagoda".
Since Zunyi was listed as a famous historic city under State protection, the
Ministry of Culture has decided to hold the National Golden Lion Award Youth
Acrobatics Competition there held every four years. The city has successively
held four competitions and Zunyi is now on its way to becoming an international
center for acrobatics.
Main troupe performers include Pan Guoxian, Xin
Yuzhe, Chen Xuewen, Zhang Shenghua, Liang Yan, Feng Shuqiong, Peng Wenhua, Liu
Yuntao, Xiong Wei and He Ya.
