Nanjing Municipal Acrobatic Troupe

The Nanjing Municipal Acrobatic Troupe was established in Dec.1957. Since its establishment, the Troupe has provided many acrobatic evening shows. All its performances were difficult, thrilling, unique, beautiful and with South China characteristics. "Cycling on the High Wire with Bowl Topping", "Bicycle Balancing on a Three-story Stand, "Plate Spinning and Flower Picking with Mouth, and many other performances are the creation of the Nanjing Acrobatic Troupe."Hand Acrobatics", "Vocal Mimicry", "Magic Show", "Flying Spear", "Flying Man with Long Poles and "Brick Breaking on Chairs are winners of several awards. "Hand Acrobatics and "Bowl Balancing Act" won the Gold Prizes of France Paris Tomorrow Acrobatic Festival -the France Republic President Award in 1986 and 1989 respectively. "Plate Spinning seized the Silver Lion Award of the 3rd National Acrobatic Competition in 1993 and Gold Prize of the 4th Wuqiao International Acrobatic Festival in 1994. In 1997, "Plate Spinning and "Bamboo Diabolo participated in the 3rd Sweden Princess Cup International Acrobatic Competition, and both won the Silver Prize. "Leather Rope Trick and "Bowl Balancing won the Gold Prizes in the first National Seedling Cup Acrobatic Competition and first Literature Art Award of the People's Government of Jiangsu Province.

Since its establishment, the Troupe has paid 40 performing visits to some 120 cities in more than 30 countries. Altogether 15 Presidents, 5 Prime Ministers and 17 Ministers of the host countries have watched their excellent performances and expressed high admiration and appreciation. Once in New Zealand, its Prime Minister watched their acrobatic shows with his family and excitedly expressed his wish to accompany the Troupe to other cities so as to see more of their performances .The Troupe has also sent twice acrobatic coaches to Australia for the promotion of Chinese acrobatic art, which did great contributions to the development of Chinese acrobatics and foreign culture exchanges.
