The Lu Xun Museum, founded in 1956, is a museum under the State Bureau of Cultural Relics.

Duties and tasks: To edit and publish the Data on Lu Xun and Research on Lu Xun and to sponsor or hold related academic forums; to collect, protect and make use of relics and materials concerning Lu Xun; to design and make basic displays and to oversee the form and content of exhibitions; and to carry out Such daily work as basic displays, exhibitions and visitor services.

Establishment: The museum includes the Relics and Data office, Lu Xun Research office, Display Department, General Office and Public Relations Department.

Major achievements: Since 1978, the museum has made several achievements, including the re-design and re-opening of the exhibition on Lu Xun's life; a restoration of older displays in Lu Xun's residence; the sponsorship of a precious relics exhibition marking the 50th anniversary of Lu Xun's death; exhibitions in the three provinces in northwestern China and other provinces and cities, including Guizhou, Shenzhen and Hunan; the publishing of Data on Lu Xun and Research on Lu Xun; the publishing of 10 books, including Chronicle of Lu Xun and a collection of Lu Xun's manuscripts; and the development of a computer index system for the Lu Xun collection.
