IT Penetrating China
The Internet in China has developed rapidly despite its
late introduction. Even in the early 1990s, Internet was still an alien word to
the public. Nowadays, China has shaken off the shackles of its manual past and
enthusiastically embraced the world of chips, bytes, and information technology.
There are many exciting steps in this process, such as China inventing its
first chip, which is a landmark in China's information industry. E-commerce has
brought Chinese consumers into an age where the click of a mouse can order
anything from an airline ticket to a bag of groceries, while the integration of
information technology will improve the quality of the nation's products. But of
greater significance is the advanced wireless digital network that will ensure
government operations become more transparent and efficient.
All of these new changes indicate that along with the development in
electronic and information technology, China also will follow its footsteps and
continue to make great strides on this wide road...
