Founded by Le Yunxi who had belonged to Tongrentang for many years in 1932 and located in No.142 Wangfujing Avenue of Beijing, Yongrentang has 300 square meters in area. Le Yunxi succeeded to Tongrentang tradition; his tenet was to save patients and help people, pursue best in the process of drug preparation and distinguishing drugs and never use low-quality materials.

In the beginning, the founder considered to manage the store as an half non-profit institute according to patients' different economic conditions and followed the example of Tongrentang: For maintaining living and helping the world, the most important thing is medicine, i.e. medical profession not only could make a living, but also could help others.

Yongrentang separated its plant and shop as soon as it started. The plant was located at No.90 West Polishing Factory, Qianmen, Beijing, had more than 20 employees, and had dispensary where bolus, powder and pastes were made, Dou department where drinking pills were processed, Nian department where powder drugs were made, Mianzi department where semi-finished products were made. Additionally, it had a house for printing directions.

Yongrentang follows its traditional tenet and its own rules in the process of drug preparations and prohibits jerry methods. It chose strictly raw materials, mixed them seriously to make sure the drug effects. First, the chief technicians prepared key raw materials according to prescriptions and checked carefully, and then the headmaster examined personally, then added other supplemental raw material, finally, the materials were sent to drugstore for production.

The drugstore is now expanding its business scope and has established cooperation with tens of pharmaceutical manufacturers nationwide. What's more, it provides service of mailing medicines to consumers in and outside Beijing, or even countries as far as Japan, Canada and Brazil.
