Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences

Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, established in 1957, is China's national agricultural research organization directly under the Ministry of Agriculture, and a national academic center of agricultural research.

The academy has altogether 39 units under it, including 37 research institutes and centers, a graduate school and a publishing house of agricultural technology. It boasts a staff of 10,072 people, including 5,612 researchers, 27% of whom are senior researchers; 114,000 mu (15 mu = 1 hectare) of experimental farms, more than 1,800 apparatuses and a collection of over 1.2 million volumes of books.

By the end of 1991, the academy had made 1,260 technological achievements, which had won 131 national-level awards and 339 ministerial-level and provincial-level awards.
