Dai Desheng (1832-1905), an Englishman
originally named James Hudson Taylor, was the founder of China Inland Mission.
He was one of the most influential
missionaries in China during the 19th century.
He was born in a Christian family in1832 and
was baptized at the age of 17. In 1853 he was sent to Shanghai and tried to
adopt Chinese tradition. He became an independent missionary in 1857. In 1865,
he founded China Inland Mission. Dai Desheng had ever been to Chinese inland
provinces several times to do research and died in Changsha City in Hunan
Province in 1905.
