Xie Hongji (1873-1916) was a famous
Christian translator and writer in modern China.
He was born in Cixi, Zhejiang Province and his father was a priest
in Christian presbytery. After he graduated from university he served as a
professor in the China-west
College in Shanghai. He often
went to churches to do missionary work. His translations and works include
Notation of the Old Testament, Christianity and Science and so on. Many of his
works still serve as reference materials for researchers. Moreover, he had ever
compiled several reference books.
