Christmas Island Frigate Bird

It belongs to the Fregatidae family of Pelecaniformes order. Its scientific name is Fregata andrewsi (Latin), or Christmas Island Frigate Bird (English).      

The whole length of the bird is about 95 centimeters. The upper portion of the body is black, with green luster. Its larynx, neck and chest are black, with purple luster. It has black beak, red laryngeal pouch and white belly. The female bird has white chest and abdomen, and rosy mouth.

The bird inhabits in ocean, preying on halobios. It can be occasionally seen in offshore islands of Guangdong Province, China.

Christmas Island Frigate Bird has been listed in Appendix I of International Trade Convention on Endangered Wild Animal and Plant Species.
