Anhui Television

Anhui Television (AHTV), the most influential local television station in East China's Anhui Province, began broadcasting on September 30, 1960 and rebroadcasting in 1970 after shutdown for months. AHTV has two channels, AHTV-1 and AHTV-2, broadcasting 280 hours in each week. AHTV-1, transmitted via satellites, covers Asia, Oceania, East Europe and East Africa, and the coverage of the microwave-transmitted AHTV-2 reaches 70 million viewers in Anhui and its adjacent provinces. AHTV also re-broadcasts programs from other television and radio stations.

AHTV-1 provides comprehensive programs: news, life, sports, entertainment, etc. Its major programs include Anhui News Broadcast, News Watch, People of Anhui, Together Tonight and Sports Stand.

Anhui-2, focusing on entertainment, is famous for its various film and play programs. Its major programs are Economy and Law, Film Live and Happiness Cornucopia (Huanle Jubaopen).

AHTV now boasts six studios, including a 600-square-meter one and a 400-square-meter one. It has begun employing digital component technology in its programming. It has digital special effect making system and automatic broadcasting system. Programs are sent from the broadcast controlling center to transmitting station through optic cables.
