The China Drama Publishing House was established on the New Year's Day of 1957 by Tian Han, the founder of modern theatre in China. It is a state-level specialized press sponsored by Chinese Theatre Association, and administrated by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. The Chinese Theatre Association, including the former Bao Wentang, has published 5,000 titles of books since its establishment.
