The Chinese Literature and History Press is
the professional press under the National Committee of the Chinese People's
Political Consultative Conference. It was established in January 1980, approved
by the National Administration for Publication, originally named the Literary
and Historical Document Press. In November 1985, it was renamed Chinese
Literature and History Press with the approval of the State Bureau for
Publication..
The Chinese Literature and History Press is
engaged in publishing conference materials and investigation reports of the
Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), its standing
committee, the chairmen's meeting, and different special committees; publishing
works and reference books on social science and culture targeted to the
committee members of the CPPCC and the people related to them; modern literary
and historical documents of China collected by the CPPCC; documents, works,
working manuals concerning the unified front, the CPPCC, and democratic parties;
poetry anthology, collected works, chronicles, and pictorials of famous
patriots; some documents of the history of the Communist Party, and local
chronicles; works based on actual documents and biographies; and selectively
publishing books from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, and overseas that are related to
cultural exchanges and the work of united front. In the past 20 years, it
published more than 1,000 titles of books and periodicals, which amount to more
than 30 million copies.
