The bird belongs to the Accipitridae family
of Falconiformes order. Its scientific name is Pseudogyps bengalensis (Latin),
or Indian White-backed Vulture (English).
It is a large-size bird of prey with a
full-length of about 120 centimeters. The head and upper neck are bare, with
sparse yellow cilia-shaped feather. Scruff has a tuft of smear white down
feather. The shoulder, two alae and tail are dim. The lower back and waist are
white. The chest, abdomen and tectices under tail are dun, with light
feather-shaft lines.
It inhabits in the neighborhood of villages
and towns, feeding on animals. It is a resident bird, distributing in western
and southern Yunnan Province.
