The bird belongs to the Diomedeidae family
of Procellariiformes order. Its scientific name is Diomedea albatrus (Latin), or
Short-tailed Albatross (English).
Its full body length is about 92
centimeters. The whole body is white, with vertex and occiput dotted with orange
yellow. The wing, shoulder and tail are taupe, and the inner side of alae is
white.
It inhabits in the sea surface, expert in
gliding. Due to short feet, it looks gaucherie when moving on land. It preys on
halobios, for example, finfish, sepia, krill, etc.
Short-tailed Albatross is distributed in
coastal provinces of China, and breeds in Taiwan and the neighboring islands. It
has been listed in Appendix I of International Trade Convention on Endangered
Wild Animal and Plant Species.
