2007 China-France Culture Communication Festival
Introduction to main events
Recitation of Antoine de
Saint-Exup¨¦ry's "The Little Prince"
Since it was first published in 1943, "The Little Prince" has
been translated into more than 100 languages and become a globally popular
book.
Written by Antoine deSaint-Exupery, the fairytale story begins as a
pilot makes a forced landing on the barren Sahara Desert. He is befriended by a
little prince from the planet Asteroid B-612. In the days that follow, the pilot
learns of the small boy's history and planet-hopping journeys in which he met a
king, a businessman, an historian, and a general. It isn't until he comes to
earth that the little prince learns the secrets of the importance of life from a
fox, a snake, and the pilot.
This story is told in a simple fashion, as children's stories typically
are, but it is not really a children's story. It is a story of a grown-up who
has almost forgotten what is important.
To commemorate this miraculous story, actress Anny Romand will participate in
the activities of Sino-French Culture Communication Festival organized by French
Embassy in China and French League. She will recite the story of "The Little
Prince" with French actor James Pax in bilingual reading. The recitation will be
held in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an and Wuhan.
"The Spring of Poets"
The culture communication activity "The Spring of Poets" has been held twice
by the French embassy in China, and this year it kicked off at Beijing Old
Stories Caf¨¦ April 17 with poem recitations by Chinese and French poets.
