New Beijing Museum, New Experience
The new Beijing Museum marked its debut earlier this month, presenting to the
public not only its rich collections, but also a newer experience. Now follow us
and dive into this lively world of relics.
Seeing is Believing
The vast collection of relics used to be covered under glass casing. While
this was done for the sake of protection, it was a pity nevertheless because
tourists couldn't have a closer look at the priceless relics.

However now, with the help of three-dimensional technology, you can simply
touch the screen and every detail of the collection comes to your eyes in an
instance. "Wow, it's like the real thing!" said an excited tourist.
Besides the presentation of 5,000 more new relic pieces, the museum, with
state-of-the-art technology, is also devoted to cultural experience. Based on
stories by playwrights from the Beijing People's Art Theater, high-definition
mini-movies are produced specially for tourists to give them a true taste of the
"yo-heave-ho" in Beijing's hutong and teach them more about the folk custom.

The Proof of the Pudding is in the Eating
In spite of its great amount of relics housed, the museum is by no means a
warehouse! As any museum should, the new Beijing Museum serves as a function for
public service and education. Curious about terracotta warriors? Want to know
about the original printing? And wish to make a do-it-yourself pottery?

The new Beijing Museum now dedicates one whole floor for public involvement
and various kinds of activities. If you visit the museum now, you may join the
experts and make your own Lunar New Year picture. With professional guidance and
equipments, a white sheet of paper, after printing, coloring, mounting, sealing,
and framing, -- all by yourself --, becomes a piece of artwork and it's your
work!
Kids may also try some traditional games in ancient Beijing on the floor,
such as tangram (Chinese jigsaw) and rolling loop and so on.
