Macao Chinese Orchestra

Founded in 1987, the Macao Chinese Orchestra is a professional troupe of the Cultural Institute of Macao S.A.R. Government. Peng Jiapeng is the Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Orchestra.

The Orchestra gives regular concerts in Macao, participates in local large-scale performances and also gives concerts in Europe and Asia from time to time, advancing Chinese traditional culture and excellent Macao music to overseas spectators with well acclaim.

The repertoire of the Orchestra covers various traditional and modern works. The Orchestra on the one hand explores and develops ways to interpret traditional music by symphony, on the other hand focuses on the interpretation of original works and local works. It continues a trend by combining Chinese and western cultures.

The Orchestra accumulates rich experience from its cooperation with Chinese and international artists. In recent years, as new musicians joined, the Orchestra has been improving its performances further and become an outstanding professional orchestra, winning praise both from China and abroad.
