Chinese Orchestra of China Opera and Dance Drama Theatre

The Chinese Orchestra of China Opera and Dance Drama Theatre was the first Chinese national orchestra, with a history of over 50 years. In its early time, the orchestra created and performed a number of successful music and dance dramas in cooperation with famous artists of that time including singer Guo Lanying and dancers Zhao Qing and Chen Ailian, among which there were the well-known White-Haired Girl, Xiao Erhei's Marriage and Liu Hulan. Through years' experiences, the Orchestra established its own artistic style and enjoyed an international fame for its excellent performances.

As for new folk works, the most popular ones are Jasmine, The Moon Reflected on the Er-quan Spring and The Butterfly Lovers, which were performed over and over again by the Orchestra. It also cultivated a number of excellent musicians who won all kinds of prizes at domestic and international competitions. The musicians were invited to perform in countries like USA, France, UK and Belgium, receiving warm acclaim.
