Heicheng Site is located 25 kilometers southeast of Dalaihubu Town of Ejin Banner. It is the largest and best preserved ancient city site along the Silk Road, which linked China with Central and Western Asia.
Given that the dynasty established by Dangxiang, a branch of the Qiang nationality, left no official written documents, Heicheng has been viewed as priceless by archeologists worldwide.
The archeological site is well known for its 10-meter-high city walls and a pagoda dating back to the Western Xia Dynasty (1032-1227).
