New Star
Luxuriant and romantic, New Star is the arresting duet drawn from Lubovitch's full-length dance, Meadow, first performed by American Ballet Theatre. The poetic and dreamlike duet tenderly evokes both love and loss.
Jangle
Set to Bela Bartok's Rhapsodies No. 1 & No. 2 for Violin and Piano, Lubovitch's Jangle is a beguiling and irresistible dance, flavored with the sounds, rhythms and movement styles of Eastern European folk culture.
Elemental Brubeck
Elemental Brubeck is set to Dave Brubeck's 1963 album, Time Changes, with all its unusual time signatures, and superimposed contrasting rhythms, meters, and tonalities. This breezy, fluid and engaging dance opens with a long and exciting solo for a man whipping over the stage with huge jumps that are punctuated by jazzy twists of the torso and swiveling hips, and then the dance segues into larger sections that make full use of the lush piano and saxophone musings of Brubeck's Theme from Elementals.
