Revels in Virtuoso Performance of Symphony Orchestra

In commemoration of Joseph Haydn, the godfather of classical music, the Wiener Philharmoniker, led by world renowned conductor Zubin Mehta, comes to Beijing for its fourth China tour, also the dubet for their three female players.

The symphony orchestra will be performing classic pieces such as Haydn’s “Farewell” and Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” from March 8 to 9 in the National Center of the Performing Arts.

Wiener Philharmoniker, also known as the Vienna Philharmonic, is widely considered as one of the finest in the world, and it was named as Europe's greatest in a recent survey by seven leading trade publications, two radio stations and a daily newspaper.

The orchestra can trace its origins to 1842, when Otto Nicolai formed the Philharmonische Academie, which was a fully independent orchestra and which took all its decisions by a democratic vote of all its members. These are principles the orchestra still holds today.

The Vienna Philharmonic has made it its mission to communicate the humanitarian message of music into the daily lives and consciousness of its listeners. In 2005 the Vienna Philharmonic was named Goodwill Ambassador of the World Health Organisation (WHO), and since 2006 the orchestra has also been Ambassador for the Phonak initiative "Hear the World".

Led by Zubin Mehta, one of the world’s leading conducting luminaries, the Vienna Philharmonic will make an impressive return to China.
