It's a story well known from books and movies: Beautiful Bavarian princess Elisabeth marries young Habsburg emperor Franz Joseph and goes on to become Sissi, the legendary Austrian empress.

The original Austrian musical Empress Sissi will visit Beijing on 22nd-24th Dec at the Exhibition Theatre. This show will take you on the emotional journey of Sissi, from her childhood home to the glorious imperial capitals of Vienna and Budapest.

Produced by the Schneider-Siemssen Theater Company, "Empress Sissi" promises to be a visual feast. From the luxurious palace, to hand-made traditional clothes and the hairstyle and jewels, people will see the fashion and taste of Sissi’s time. In addition, during the 135 minutes performance, audiences will enjoy 46 dulcet music accompanied by the world famous Vienna Orchestra.

The story takes us back to 1853. 16 year-old Princess Elisabeth of Bavaria, "Sissi", follows her mother and sister Helene to the Austrian court in Bad Ischl, where the engagement between Helene and the young emperor Franz Joseph will be announced. But he meets Sissi when she's out fishing and falls in love with her. Sissi loves Franz Joseph but a marriage with him comes with baggage: his arrogant and headstrong mother.
